is it just me?

I hate videos. OK, I guess that was rather general, maybe I should be more specific. It seems many sites are using video for news, product pushes, etc. If I'm on cnn.com, if there's something there that I would normally click on, but I see it's a video, I just don't. I want my news faster than that - I want to just READ it! Maybe it's a left/right brain thing, or maybe I'm just odd, but just because we have the bandwidth for video doesn't mean it is necessarily the best medium for the audience or the message.

My vent for the day :-)

You are not the only one. I would rather quickly skim something than have to sit through the obligatory advertisement then viewing the boring news piece wasting my bandwidth

I agree! I'd rather skim a few paragraphs than wait for a reporter to get to the point. I also wouldn't watch a video at work, but would read the article. Additionally, there are still some times I won't watch because I am low bandwidth (smartphone, sharing connections, etc.).

I agree, I think it has to do with ad revenues mainly.

Wow, I agree too. I always thought it was just me! For some content, video is appropriate, but sometimes I just want written words (or pictures..those are nice too).

Couldn't agree more. I can read soooooooooooooooo much faster that they can talk! Videos almost always waste my time.

This is one of my pet peeves with the Domino dev wiki, by the way - too many video-only "articles" with no text to back them up. It would kill them to post a transcript?

I will pass the feedback on wiki articles on - I must admit when I did any work on the wiki, I didn't even consider a video :-) After thinking on it a bit more, I think videos are good for entertainment, but for information, I want TEXT!

You're not alone.
Especially since I don't always have headphones at hand so I don't disturb the people around me (with the mandatory commercials etc.)
